Tianjin University's Materials Science Master's progam is a part the First Grade Discipline of Materials Science and Engineering. In addition to TJU’s First Grade Key discipline, SMSE also contains materials process engineering, materials physics and materials chemistry which are considered second grade disciplines.

2.Objectives
In order to meet our nation’s economic and societal needs for harmonious development, to realize development through science and education and to successfully cultivate future talent, an education must “be geared towards modernization, the world as a whole and the future”. Graduates of TJU’s SMSE Master’s program must be able to meet the following requirements upon completion of the program:
1. Have a professional knowledge of the subject while at the same time understanding the fundamentals of important theories in various subjects and have a width span of knowledge.
2. Possess professional expertise and ability from scientific research, education, management and independent responsibility acquired over the course of the program to apply to the needs of the socio-economic development of China in combination with an advanced specialization in Materials.
3. Have a skilled grasp of a foreign language.
4. Feel a deep love for China, grasp the basic theories of Marxism, obey the laws and discipline, possess personal and professional ethics and develop as a well rounded individual.
5. Comply with academic standards and ethics and be of sound body and mind
3.Duration
The Master’s Program is typically 2.5 years. Classes are typically finished during the first year of study.
4.Courses and Credit
Student must complete a total of a minimum of 27 credits, in which at least 13 credits are core courses, at least 6 credits are required courses, and at least 8 credits are technical electives ones.
